The Weekly Hymn

As we continue in this Advent season, one of the most important things to dwell upon is the truth of the two natures of the Lord Jesus Christ – fully God and fully human. One of the Blog posts that I will put up next week will go into more detail.
There are some lovely hymns that express this truth. One of them we sung last Sunday morning – I was surprised that more people in the congregation didn’t know it. I will just leave the words to speak for themselves:

Thou who wast rich beyond all splendour,
All for love’s sake becamest poor;
Thrones for a manger didst surrender,
Sapphire paved courts for stable floor.
Thou who wast rich beyond all splendour,
All for love’s sake becamest poor.

Thou who art God beyond all praising,
All for love’s sake becamest Man;
Stooping so low but sinners raising
Heavenwards by Thine eternal plan.
Thou who art God beyond all praising,
All for love’s sake becamest Man

Thou who art love beyond all telling,
Saviour and King we worship Thee.
Immanuel within us dwelling,
Make us what Thou wouldst have us be.
Thou who art love beyond all telling,
Saviour and King we worship Thee.
