Jesus is Lord! That is a truth that defines what we believe as Christians. The New Testament throughout points in that direction. In fact, everything that we read there will reach that point sooner or later.
Jesus himself made no secret of the fact that he was indeed the Lord. Yes, he came in humble circumstances, lived the life of a servant, died in a brutal and cruel way, that doesn’t sound much like someone who is Lord! But in all these things he showed that, while on earth, his being Lord was completely contrary to what people would expect.
And then he rose from the dead, showing himself to be Lord over death! He ascended into heaven as Lord (and as we saw yesterday as King too), and will return as King and Lord.
That is who he said he is, you either accept that as being true or not. You cannot have Jesus as simply a moral teacher because he claimed to be far more than that, and you would have to call him a liar, or mad. And how can someone who is mad or a liar be a good moral teacher?
The Apostle Paul wrote these words in Romans:
If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 NIV.
Words to ponder and respond.
