C – Covenant

Covenant is an important Biblical concept. A covenant is a declaration of promise, and God made a number of these. In fact there are over 300 references to the word “covenant” in Scripture.

Going right back to the time when Adam was thrown out of the garden of Eden, God promised that One would come who would overthrow the Devil and his works.

Probably the most well known Old Testament covenant was that which God made with Abraham that all nations of the world would be blessed through him. The advance of the gospel to many nations today is a great testimony to that.

The ultimate fulfilment of God’s covenants was in the Lord Jesus Christ. By his life, death and resurrection achieved this perfectly. Parts of these covenants are still to be fulfilled. When Jesus returns and ushers in the new Heaven and new Earth, then everything that God promised will be complete!
